CEIP CAP D’OR SCHOOL MORAIRA 03/25

This school in Moraira is an early childhood and primary education centre that ranges from 2 years old preschool to 11 years old Primary 6th Grade. (Interestingly its name comes from the Cap D,Or watchtower , built at the end of the 16th century on the Valencian coast.)
The school currently has 80 infants ( 2-5 years) and 200 primary (5-11 years) school children from the Moraira catchment area. And between 25-30 dedicated and highly motivated teachers. The T/M Lions have a past history of working with the school . The link between the two has now been revived thanks to the efforts of a new school Mum. With her interpreting skills, she has been able to help implement the school’s latest innovative project called “Active Bodies, Active Minds”.
As a result, the Teulada/Moraira Lions group had a very comprehensive and thorough meeting with the senior staff of the school. It could be seen from our visit to the school the close bond that exists between pupils and teachers, in this happy and lively environment, which contributes positively to the hard work and objectives set in the schools “Active Bodies, Active Minds”. initiative.
The aim of this initiative, which the teachers and children have collaborated together on, is to help academic level, attention and student motivation, in particular in relation to enhancing the playground school time experience for all the children, encouraging movement and action, so that all children are offered a wider variety of activities regardless of their tastes, interests and abilities. Their objective is to improve and optimise the external spaces of the school and encourage the social inclusion of all students, mixed play cooperation, physical and intellectual activity. What a great idea this school has come up with !
One of the key activities the children identified was the need/ want of a climbing wall. So the T/M Lions will contribute €1754, together with Local authority funding to create a climbing wall , which will be constructed hopefully before the end of 2025 summer break.
The teaching staff do not think of this initiative as a passing fad or just a 2 year project with a beginning an end, but see this as a long term initiative which will be reviewed , evaluated and further developed over forth coming years. The lions have already committed money for the climbing wall, and in phase 2 of this initiative have today agreed to help with requests for table tennis tables(€2279) and 4 seater games tables (€2268) to enhance the play ground facilities.
