Sant Vicente School Teulada 05/25

The history of Teulada begins when it was founded in 1386 after the Christians had recaptured the area from the Moors. The evangelical Dominican Spanish friar , preacher and theologian San Vincent Ferrer,  visited and lived in Teulada regularly  and became its patron saint, with many of the towns streets named after him. San Vincent was prolific missionary, travelling extensively across Europe and England preaching and spreading the gospel. He was canonised in 1455, and although many biographers believe that he could only speak Valenciania, it was reputed that he was endowed with the gift of tongues.  he is the patron  saint of brick makers, builders and contruction workers. And this proud school is named after him.
On Wednesday 21 st May the Teulada Moraira Lions handed over the cheque of €7291 to the headmistress of San Vincent Ferret school in Teulada. The Lions project with this school assisted in the development of the new special needs area.
For those who are not familiar with the school, it is a large , happy and secure place, with 560 pupils aged from 2-12 years old. There are 25 classrooms for children aged 6-12 , and 7 classrooms for the younger children aged 2-6 years. And now with the opening of the special needs area, there is one dedicated special needs classroom and area staffed by 3 special teachers and 1 educational specialist teacher. The new special needs project is the brain child of the director  Araceli, and has been open for almost 1 year. Areceli has been director of the school since 1999, and retires at the end of this school year, she is passionate about offering all children integrated opportunities to learn and develop suited their needs . The Lions were shown around this facility , we were all greatly impressed. It is so good to see all children working and playing together, under specialist and careful supervision  regardless of their physical or mental needs , what a great way to accept and socialise these young minds!
The Teulada Moraira Lions look forward to working more with this dedicated local school.
