Lions scoop top prize
Teulada Moraira Lions Club was awarded First prize at a special civic ceremony on Friday evening. This is
the third year of the awards hosted by the Teulada Moraira Ayuntamiento. It was held at the auditorium in
Teulada in front of a capacity audience,
Lion President, Philip Butterworth received the magnificent trophy symbolising sea and earth and therefore representing the unity of the two towns.
In his acceptance speech the President paid tribute to all members of the Lions club past and present who
over the last 31years have worked so hard to achieve this recognition. He also thanked all the volunteers at the Lions Den Shop who have helped raise over half a million euros to help support local community groups and individuals in need.
The star studded Gala evening organised by Teulada Moraira Council was broadcast live on Mediterraneaneo 8 television and also featured musical and comedy performances by local artistes.
The Alcalde or Mayor of Teulada Moraira, Raul Llobell, President of Alicante province Toni Perez and
Minister for Tourism Marian Cano all paid tribute to the six worthy prize winning groups. In addition to
Teulada Moraira Lions club the other community groups were: La Senieta de Moraira Choir, the
Processional Bearers of Saint Vicente Ferrer, the Teulada Moraira Local Police, the Coral Teuladina Choir
and the Processional Bearers of Our Lady of The Forsaken. Each of the community organisations ended the evening with a joint celebration before proudly carrying away their special Premios Vida awards
