TM Lions Supporting Gandia Men’s Refuge

The Franciscan Shelter for men in Gandia provides a home and nursing care for around 65 homeless men, many of whom suffer from mental or physical illness. The shelter is run by a small team of Franciscan monks assisted by local volunteers.

The monks have been in complete lockdown throughout the Covid pandemic and have done an amazing job, dedicating themselves to the care of these individuals.

Some of their usual funding sources have also been impacted by the pandemic – charity shops in particular have been unable to trade and so have not raised money to be able to donate.

The Shelter approached TM Lions at a point where they were desperate for supplies. The Lions were able to donate funds at short notice which enabled a volunteer to do some much needed shopping for them.
