Teulada Moraira Lions are always looking for opportunities to help those in need in our local community. When we received a request from our Civil Protection team for a defibrillator to be carried in the ambulance we had previously helped to fund, it did not take us long to agree to fund this.
Defibrillators are devices that restore a normal heartbeat by sending an electric pulse or shock to the heart. They are used to prevent or correct an arrhythmia, an irregular heartbeat and even restart a heart that has suddenly stopped.
In the hands of the trained staff on the ambulance and given the incidence of heart problems in our area, particularly given the age profile, we think that this is an excellent way to help those in need.
