TM Lions celebrate 25 years serving the community

Friday the 18th of October saw a very special celebration by the Teulada–Moraira Lions club who held their 25th annual Charter Night dinner and dance.

The event was held in the superb setting of Club Náutico in the Moraira yacht club, where over 70 club members and guests attended the sparkling event.  The formal evening was attended by local dignitaries and guests which included the Alcaldessa of Teulada–Moraira, Rosálina Vila Vallés, who is also an honorary member of the club, Councillors Isabel Garrido and María José Ivars from Benitachell Ayuntamiento, and Colonel “Max” Maxwell MBE with his partner Jan Adams–Bareham.  We were also delighted to have Mrs. Candy Wright MBE, President of HELP of DAMA join our celebrations.

A cava reception was followed by our honoured lady guests being presented bouquets of flowers by our lady Lions.  Grace was given by Lion Andy Dawson, and a superb dinner followed with excellent wines.  Toasts to their Majesties King Felipé VI of Spain and Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and Northern Ireland were given by Lions Philip Butterworth and Lion Peter Johnson respectively. The toast to absent friends was given by Lion Brian Clarke and the toast to our guests by Lion David Harmer.

Lion President, Dr Nico Dekkers, gave a speech and toasted Lions Club International while our longest serving Lion, Marjetta Forselles, gave a speech and toast to the Teulada–Moraira Lions club.  Colonel Max Maxwell gave a very eloquent speech on behalf of the guests which was followed by dancing to the excellent “Chill Factor”.

The evening proved a great success and was staged in a very lovely setting.  The TM Lions can be justifiably proud of their achievements serving the communities of Teulada, Moraira and Benitachell for the past 25 years, as well as far reaching into the Marina Alta and indeed to helping deserving causes worldwide.
