On Friday the 28th of September the Teulada–Moraira Lions celebrated the 24th anniversary of having their charter bestowed. A glorious evening was held at Satari’s restaurant, Moraira, where the celebratory atmosphere was convivial, the food excellent and the wine was eminently quaffable judging by the late night dance floor inhabitants.
Lion President, Laura Hillstead, welcomed our honoured guests that included the Mayors from Teulada–Moraira and Benitachell with their respective partners, Mrs. Margaret Hales MBE and her husband Dr. Gerald Hales. Also invited were Mrs. Jacqui Philips MBE, President of MABS, and Mrs. Candy Wright, President of HELP of Denia and Marina Alta. The lady guests were presented with flowers which was followed by a sumptuous meal. The toasts were then pronounced in due form to The King and Queen of Spain, HM the Queen, ruler of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and to Lions Club International.
A toast to our guests was made on behalf of the Lions by Lion Dr. Nico Dekkers and was responded to by a moving and heartfelt speech followed by a toast to the Teulada–Moraira Lions by Mrs. Margaret Hales MBE, who brought blushes to all the Lions members present with her generous praise for the TM Lions and the work they do.
Lion President, Laura Hillstead, in turn made a rousing speech in which she reiterated the pride she held in not only being part of the largest service club in the world, Lions Club International, but also being elected President of the oldest chartered English-speaking Lions club in Spain.
The evening ended on a high note as members and guests alike danced the night away to the superb skills of entertainer Adam Daniels who performed with aplomb.
